The bad tree points directly to the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and can only produce bad, corrupt fruit because it creates competition, encourages self-justification, sets us against one another… and when the carnal mind comes out under the right circumstances, brother will kill brother, as happened with Cain and Abel. It has the terrible power to destroy even the closest familial bonds of love.
A good tree produces good fruit, that is the fruit of the spirit.
A corrupt, bad tree produces corrupt and bad fruit.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and whoever loves it will eat its fruit. (Proverbs 18:21)
The tree you love will determine the fruit you eat, or put another way, the system you participate in will determine the works you produce.
Paul also outlines the deeds of the flesh in Galatians 5:19-21, manifesting as sexual immorality, impurity, idolatry, enmity, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, envy, drunkenness, and the like. Furthermore, consider the hidden fruits of Satan, like fear, pride, and rebellion, which often remain obscured and difficult to discern. Galatians 5:17 explains the internal conflict between our desires and the Spirit’s guidance. Likewise, Zechariah 13:9 depicts the refining process of our character, tested as metals are, until the refiner sees his reflection shining back from the surface.
“Now the practices of the sinful nature are clearly evident: they are sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality (total irresponsibility, lack of self-control), idolatry, sorcery, hostility, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions that promote heresies, envy, drunkenness, riotous behavior, and other things like these. I warn you beforehand, just as I did previously, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of Yahuah. But the fruit of the Spirit the result of His presence within us is love unselfish concern for others, joy, inner peace, patience not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Yahusha Messiah have crucified the sinful nature together with its passions and appetites. If we claim to live by the Ruach Ha Kodesh, we must also walk by the Ruach with personal integrity, godly character, and moral courage—our conduct empowered by the Ruach Ha Kodesh. We must not become conceited, challenging or provoking one another, envying one another.”
- Galatians 5:19-26 AMP
“Even so, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the unhealthy tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore, by their fruit you will recognize them as false prophets.”
- Matthew 7:17-20 AMP
“Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for the tree is recognized and judged by its fruit. You brood of vipers, how can you speak good things when you are evil? For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart. The good man, from his inner good treasure, brings out good things; and the evil man, from his inner evil treasure, brings out evil things. But I tell you, on the day of judgment people will have to give an accounting for every careless or useless word they speak. For by your words reflecting your spiritual condition you will be justified and acquitted of the guilt of sin; and by your words rejecting Me you will be condemned and sentenced.”
- Matthew 12:33-37 AMP
Yahusha uses an illustration of a fruit tree because you can tell if the tree is good by the type of fruit that it produces. A good fruit tree is not going to produce bad fruit. Likewise, a bad fruit tree is not going to produce good fruit. It is the same in a believers life. If you are constantly producing fruit of the Spirit, you are walking close to Messiah.
The tree of life is the system of Yahuah. It is agape love through Messiah Yahusha, the true King. When you are in Yahuah’s agape system, you will do the works of agape, and these are its fruits:
Love:
We are called to love others as Messiah loved us. This means putting the needs of others above our own. Consider how you can show love to those around you today.
Joy:
Joy comes from the Ruach Ha Kodesh and is a deep seated contentment that can be present in any situation. Pray for the joy of Yahuah to fill your heart and mind.
Peace:
When we trust in Yahuah and give Him control of our lives, we can experience a peace that the world cannot offer. Ask Yahuah to help you find peace in all circumstances.
Patience:
Patience is the ability to endure difficult situations with a calm and peaceful attitude.
Pray for the patience to wait on Yahuah and trust in His timing.
Kindness:
Kindness is the willingness to show consideration and care for others. It is an expression of love and compassion.
Look for opportunities to show kindness to those around you today.
Goodness:
Goodness is the quality of being virtuous and doing what is right. Ask for Yahuah to help you be a light in the world.
Faithfulness:
As followers of the way, we are called to be faithful and loyal to Yahuah and to His Word.
Ask Yahuah to help you be faithful in all areas of your life.
Gentleness:
Gentleness is the quality of being kind. caring. and understanding. Pray for the gentleness of Messiah to be evident in your words and actions.
self control:
self control is the ability to control one’s thoughts, feelings, and actions. It helps us to make wise choices and to resist temptation. Ask Yahuah to help you grow in self-control
Respecting others more than yourself
You feel secure under headship and empowers you to love others and grow hope and joy in knowing that you are a channel for Yahuah’s love.
