Mother Earth ‘Gaia’ Worship is at the very heart of today’s environmental movement aka Climate Action. It’s in the name of coming together to save ‘Mother Earth’ for the common good of all. With the UN and the Pope on the front lines, mandating the urgent need for global climate action. We all know the term ‘Mother Earth’ or ‘Mother Nature’.
But do you know who ‘Gaia’ is?! In Greek mythology, Gaia also spelled as Gaea, is the Mother Goddess; creator and giver of birth to the Earth and all the Universe. She is the personification of the Earth. Around the world in different cultures ‘Gaia’ the ‘Mother Earth Goddess’ is known by many different names. The Roman Catholic’s Mother Mary (Queen of Heaven and Earth) fits the description of Gaia as well. It’s stated that…. “Gaia is life. She is all, the very soul of the earth. She is a goddess who, by all accounts, inhabits the planet, offering life and nourishment to all her children.
“We were warned in the Word! We are not to worship The Father’s creation but Him alone. Roman 1:25 “Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and WORSHIPPED AND SERVED THE CREATURE MORE THEN THE CREATOR, who is blessed for ever. Amen.” I believe the Vatican will unite all through ‘Mother Earth’, because it’s the one thing that all have in COMMON.
People often wonder HOW will all the religions unite. The Catholic, Jew, Christian, and Muslim can be brought together under the Abrahamic faith, but we still have Buddhists and Hindus and even Atheists. However these religions are big on nature and the environment. So bringing them all together for the one purpose of saving “Our Common Home” re: our ‘Mother Earth’ might be the key.You see, the Vatican believes in the ‘Spirit of Assisi’ whom Pope Francis took his papal name. This 12th century monk was known as a lover of nature and animals as well as one who tried to unite with the Muslims. And they want to bring us under this spirit as well.
Pope John Paul and Pope Benedict also pushed Gaia worship and unity for all through interfaith prayer meetings.Pope Francis wants all to come together in what he calls ‘one new spirit’ under this word he uses very often ‘Fraternity’. Just like the fraternity pact he just signed with the UAE back in February.Fraternity means… “a group of people associated or formally organized for a common purpose, interest, or pleasure”.
Not only does Pope Francis want a fraternity with all religions but with the earth and the creatures. Here is an excerpt from the National Geographic on how St. Fancis of Assiss thought about the environment…“Fraternity” is a St. Francis kind of word. Treating earth’s creatures as brothers and sisters was a joyous expression of the life he lived in communion with the divine. And he extended this fraternal care to not just creatures.
To Francis, the sun was “Brother Sun,” the moon “Sister Moon.” Likewise wind, water, and fire were his siblings. Elemental forces and living presences were to be acknowledged as you would a friend”. “It was for this radical inclusiveness that Pope John Paul II, in 1979, named St. Francis the patron saint of ecologists.”
And this is why Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudasto Si’ titled ‘On Common Care of Our Home’, is so important to understand. Look at this excerpt… “Saint Francis of Assisi reminds us that our COMMON HOME is like a SISTER with whom we share our life and a BEAUTIFUL MOTHER who opens HER arms to embrace us.” “This SISTER now cries out to us because of the harm we have inflicted on HER…. This is why the earth HERSELF, burdened and laid waste, is among the most abandoned and maltreated of our poor; SHE “groans in travail” (Rom 8:22).
We have forgotten that we ourselves are dust of the earth (Gen 2:7); our very bodies are made up of HER elements, we breathe HER air and we receive life and refreshment from HER waters”. “Now, faced as we are with global environmental deterioration, I wish to address EVERY PERSON LIVING ON THIS PLANET. In this Encyclical, I would like to enter into dialogue with ALL people about our COMMON HOME.
“This is Goddess Earth worship talk!!!
The Almighty Heavenly Father is the giver of life, we are to give glory to Him alone for our lives and His creation.Did you know that a Catholic Church in Toronto that televises weekly masses, concluded a mass with a song called “O BEAUTIFUL GAIA”, it was written by a new age feminist named Carolyn McDade.
This took place back in July of 2015. Don’t be fooled with all this Gaia, ‘Mother Earth’ talk, it’s nothing more than a deceptive mixture of science, mysticism, feminism, and old style paganism with a little bit of new age. However the danger is it’s creeping into the church. Always be watching and pray for discernment.
